…a message from Executive Director Marsha Eichelberger
One of my favorite things about my job is the daily encounters with truly incredible people. All kinds of people pitch in to make this operation work, but some people are just doers- they really jump in and get the job done, or come up with a whole new idea and execute it flawlessly.
Tom Wynn is one of those people.
We’ve had the privilege of Tom’s kindness for years, and his recent induction as Board President has only increased his generosity. In a recent conversation, Tom told us that he’s always admired Inter-Faith: “It’s a great organization I adore- I’ve learned a lot. (We) touch a lot of lives and show compassion… we are serving a population who needs a little hand up.” We couldn’t ask for a better description of our purpose, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner in achieving it.
So we already knew that Tom is an indefatigable, energetic supporter of Inter-Faith; still, his latest news was both surprising and delightful: to celebrate his 70th birthday, Tom and a friend are going on a 270 mile bike trip from Johnstown, PA to Blue Bell, PA. And just to make it a bit more interesting, Tom’s opening it as an informal fundraiser for Inter-Faith! Check out i-fha.org/toms-ride now and in the days before his ride on June 9th for more information. And spread the word! Let’s see how much this fine fellow can raise for a cause near to all our hearts.
People like Tom are the real soul of Inter-Faith. I love how he- and so many of our staff and volunteers- have an idea and get it done, without waiting for the perfect circumstances that will never arise. This kind of informal and collaborative spirit is exactly what got us started in the first place. Ending family homelessness is a big job, and it’s easy to get disheartened or feel we can’t make a difference. But I see it every day- from the 7th grader starting a small food drive to a septuagenarian embarking on the fundraising road trip of a life time.
To Tom, and all of you-
Executive Director Marsha Eichelberger
